Bêta-cité is an interactive audiovisual mapping project on the web. The site enables the creation of audio-guided urban itineraries, which users can design and experience in two Montreal neighborhoods, in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and Saint-Laurent boroughs.

In Spectrum Survey, Biederman takes the measure of the electromagnetic waves that surround us. In Circulation, Chatonsky makes urban traffic the driving force behind a dialogue between a man and a woman. In Public Address System, Poonawala lets us discover the world through the voice of loudspeakers, and Sourkes proposes GeoTag, a web version of the game Geography.

In this project, visitors contribute to the creation of dialogical entities, or veves, by holding a conversation based on the simple exchange of words. From this dialogue, the vévés learn, become more complex and evolve. They seem to have a will of their own.
