Carnages / Mitsiko Miller, Eva Quintas

Carnages is built around the multiple connotations and imagery of anthropophagy and cannibalism. With a decidedly parodic tone, the authors construct several short stories addressing blackness, war, the body, and food as symbolic spaces of resistance and assimilation.

Méprise / Lucie Duval, Joseph Lefèvre, Stanley Péan

In a modest snack bar in south-central Montreal, a small-time neighborhood kingpin and a seductive waitress play cat and mouse. But the rituals of seduction are never innocent or even harmless, as the characters in this short story will learn.

Quittez je vous prie / D. Kimm, Élène Tremblay

A woman liquidates her past. Life is elsewhere and everything is out of place. Other stories mingle with her own story. Images swallow words. Only scraps and fragments remain. What do we know about others? They are strangers and we are so alone. The woman packs her bags. She returns to where she has never been. Because all women leave one day.

Une mauvaise journée / Michel Lefebvre, Chuck Samuels

The dies are cast. From the moment the internet user consults their calendar, a series of mishaps ensues, transforming an ordinary day into a nightmarish journey. The days pass and the hours tick by to the rhythm of these adventures. What initially promised to be a pleasant day trip turns into an ordeal for the visitor.

Zocalo / Daniel Lavoie, André Lemelin

A Montreal photographer wanders the streets of Mexico City. There he meets a woman named Jadira. He follows her, capturing her image in the city's labyrinthine streets. Fascinated by her face, the writer flies to Mexico City in search of Jadira, following in the footsteps of the image.
