From February 1 to 24, 1999, ISEA offered web design workshops to artists in Dakar, with a view to creating French-language, African multimedia works for the internet.
Five creative projects were carried out by around twenty professional artists working in various disciplines, including audio, visual arts, and literature.
Held at Metissacana, West Africa's first cybercafé, the DAKAR WEB project was led by three Montreal artists:
Eva Quintas, photographer and initiator of the project for ISEA;
Michel Lefebvre, writer and multimedia director;
Catherine McGovern, network art project director.
