On the Paths of Exile
A web video project
by Eva Quintas
Launch: 30 October at 5.30 pm
TOPO is delighted to invite you to a screening and talk about a new project by Eva Quintas, co-founder of TOPO, on 30 October from 5.30 pm.
Déroutes is a web-based video project, in French and Catalan, which explores the Republican exile following the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939). Through 21 short videos, the project brings to life the stories, journeys and sites of remembrance in northern and southern Catalonia.
About Eva Quintas
Since the 1990s, Eva Quintas has pursued a photographic practice exploring the social, cultural, and political dimensions of territories. She has produced exhibitions, web-based artworks, video installations, and publications. Through an exploration of various narrative forms, her work examines how places are constructed and transformed through the stories they hold, the uses that shape them, and the communities that inhabit them. Themes such of identity and belonging, history and memory, and abandonment and transformation run through her projects.
This project follows on from a research-and-creation residency at Lumière d’encre, a centre for contemporary art and photography (Céret, France) in June 2024, and received a production grant from the Canada Council for the Arts in 2025.
