TOPO is pleased to invite you to the FRONTI\u00c8RE forum \u2013 Cross-border artistic practices, an event in collaboration with the Montreal artist center.\u00a0DARE-DARE<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Bitamine Faktoria<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 Factory for cross-border cultural creation and production in the Spanish Basque Country. This meeting is taking place to mark the launch of the publication\u00a0Fronti\u00e8re<\/a>, which looks back at TOPO's 2019-2022 thematic programming. TOPO has organized a series of exhibitions and online projects on the theme of borders from 2019 to 2022. Rooted in human history and still highly relevant today, this theme brings together several issues addressed by TOPO, including political, social, and technological questions.<\/p>

The Fronti\u00e8re program comprises three thematic cycles, each associated with three female authors and art historians: Nuria Carton de Grammont, Paule Mackrous, and Mirna Abiad-Boyadjian. To enrich the discussion, four other specialists take a broader look at the concept of borders from different perspectives related to their fields of research: Ricard Zapata Barrero (politics), Chantal Pontbriand (aesthetics), Jean-Dominique Leccia (psychiatry), and David Jhave Johnston (technology).<\/p>

This publication traces the early stages of a cross-border artistic exploration program launched in 2011 by the DARE-DARE artists' center as an extension of its Montreal base. More than just a visual retrospective and a presentation of works created in three very different urban contexts (Detroit, Tijuana, Mexico City), the book offers a series of recent observations by the artists and host partners to revive vivid memories, retrace the path of thought and experience, reveal the imprint on creative practice and intellectual reflection, and highlight the impact on careers and artistic missions.\"<\/p>

This publication is a continuation of research conducted in 2019 as part of the \u201cEmotional Mapping of the Bidassoa\u201d project. It takes the form of a series of educational booklets accompanied by the work of illustrator Elena Odriozola, highlighting significant social aspects. These ten small booklets tell the stories of a geographical area\u2014that of the Bidassoa River in the Spanish Basque Country\u2014elegantly written by Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Noain Maura in language accessible to all audiences.<\/p>
