Post-Audio_DVD is an extension of the Post-Audio Esthetic project (Clark Gallery, Montreal), followed by the Post-Audio NetLab web project (Post-Audio<\/a>) exploring the changing nature of musical objects and sound, their codes of representation, and their multiple relationships with the visual arts. Post-Audio NetLab provides a creative and interactive platform at the convergence of image and sound. Post-Audio_DVD contains a selection of audiovisual works produced between 2001 and 2006, characteristic of an emerging artistic practice that draws on collaborations between the worlds of audio art and the visual arts. These works are immediately distinguishable from VJing or music videos, where the visual aspect is often relegated to illustrating the musical content. More sophisticated aesthetic and conceptual research, based on the interweaving of visual and sound components, means that the works transcend the sum of their mediums, hence their more accurate designation as audiovisual works.\"postaudio_daniel1\"<\/a><\/p>

The aim of the Post-Audio_DVD project is to present an overview of this type of creation and offer a diversity of perspectives that allow viewers to appreciate the interplay between sound and visual practices. With the exception of the videos by Daniel Olson, who works solo, the selected works are the result of collaborations between artists from the visual arts, new media, and\/or electronic music. They were created based on elective affinities, complementary aesthetic approaches, and an appetite for transmedia experimentation. Beyond their specificities, they testify to the richness of Montreal's cultural context at the dawn of the 21st century, where multiple collaborations have energized the music and art scene.<\/p>

\"postaudio_jsr\"<\/a>All too often ephemeral, these works and performances are frequently doomed to disappear, hence the interest in publishing them on DVD, a platform that allows their visual and audio qualities to be appreciated. DVDs also offer convenient and lasting access to creations that are rarely seen outside their usual presentation settings, such as live performances, art galleries, or museums. With this range of projects, Post-Audio_DVD does not claim to offer an exhaustive portrait, but rather seeks to highlight the aesthetic qualities associated with the various artistic approaches of their creators. The works presented are part of Montreal's cultural microclimate, but also part of a broader trend of accelerated technological change, shifting sensibilities, and new aesthetic convergences.
