welcome Jonathan Mayers and Pascale T\u00e9trault for this discussion on multidisciplinary practices.<\/strong><\/p><p>Invited as part of the Lafayette-Montreal Cross-Residency, Louisiana-based visual artist and poet Jonathan Mayers will lead a discussion with Quebec multidisciplinary artist and poet Pascale T\u00e9trault.<\/p><p>Together, the two artists will explore the links between images and words through their multidisciplinary practices.<\/p><p>This meeting will be an opportunity to discover their artistic approaches and learn how poetry and visual arts feed off each other to bring to born and raised in Istrouma, or Baton-Rouj (Baton Rouge), Louisiana. His passion for reconnecting with his heritage community and reclaiming his family\u2019s languages, Kouri-Vini (the endangered Creole language of Louisiana) and Louisiana French\u2014which were lost two generations earlier due to Americanization\u2014led Mayers to do more linguistic and cultural research. Mayers paints images of mythological beasts and monsters in familiar, often local, landscapes, and incorporates that same physical landscape into his <span class=\"s2\">work<\/span>evoke themes such as environmentalism, Creolism, and postcolonialism. He infuses his works with <span class=\"s2\">work<\/span>with <i>Latanny\u00e8rizm <\/i>(Latani\u00e8risme) which brings together visual arts, language, and territory.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p2\">Mayers is represented by Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Louisiana State University (2007) and his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of New Orleans (2011). He has been an artist-in-residence at Centre SAGAMIE (Alma, QC), Est-Nord-Est (Quebec City), and A Studio in the Woods (New Orleans).  Mayers, Poet Laureate of Baton Rouge 2021-2023, is co-editor of <i>F\u00e9vi <\/i>(2022), and his work can be found in : <i>Nous sommes tous des astronautes : sc\u00e9narios et prototypes pour des temps extr\u00eames <\/i>(2024), <i>Lat\u00e6r L\u00e8v <\/i>(2023), <i>Contes merveilleux : Louisiane, 2023<\/i>, <i>Folklore Figures of French and Creole Louisiana <\/i>(2021), <i>Ancrages No 30. Traces<\/i>, and <i>Feux Follets<\/i>. His most recent projects as an exhibition curator were <i>Kont Kr\u00e9yol-y\u00e9 <\/i>(2025) and <i>Mitoloji Latanny\u00e8r | Mythologies louisianaises <\/i>(2023). With a background in literature and interactive media, she then completed a Master\u2019s in Studio Arts at Concordia University in 2024, where she explored through the creation of machine-sculptures themes  related to language, memory, and technological craftsmanship. Since 2019, she parallelly has collaborated as a creative technologist and programmer, developing interactive systems for and with various artists and designers. Also an educator, she has been teaching programming and digital creation for the past seven years in  various artist-run centers and schools such as SAT, Eastern Bloc, and AdaX. Pascale\u2019s works take the form of hybrid objects that merge materiality, poetry, and electronics to recount stories in the physical space.
