TOPO kicks off the new season with an artists' gathering to mark the launch of the web project\u00a0Femmes d\u2019Argentine<\/em><\/a>, a photographic, textual, and audio essay under the artistic direction of Eva Quintas, on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., via Zoom.<\/p>

This event, presented in French and Spanish, will feature artists from Quebec and Argentina who contributed to the project.<\/p><\/div>

Femmes d\u2019Argentine address the violence of the military dictatorship (1976-1983) through images taken from the archives of the cities of C\u00f3rdoba and Buenos Aires and texts by writer Guylaine Massoutre. The latter, published in essay form, focus on the account by Argentine Susana Romano Sued of a group of women's stay in clandestine detention centers in the city of C\u00f3rdoba during the dictatorship. Her novel Procedimiento, translated into French, English, and German, has been transposed into a multilingual sound work by Argentine composer Gonzalo Biffarella. Guylaine Massoutre's publication, Nous sommes le soleil (Nota Bene), was a finalist for the 2021 Governor General's Literary Award in the Essay category. Eva Quintas stayed in Argentina in the fall of 2018 with the support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Qu\u00e9bec through its international residency program.<\/p>

This broadcast is part of TOPO's third cycle of thematic programming on the theme of BORDERS: Geopolitics \u2014 Variable Spaces. Although the dictatorship in Argentina at that time was essentially a national reality, its ramifications and repercussions extended far beyond the country's borders. The works presented today are part of a perspective of solidarity, openness, and cross-border awareness.<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
